Cushman & Wakefield, as a leading global real estate services firm,  continues to publish its Corporate Social Responsibility activity.

This year, the company presented the third edition,  highlighting a detailed overview of the strides taken in environmental sustainability, energy management, governance, ethics, safety, procurement, diversity and inclusion, veteran support, community outreach, and other areas impacting health and well-being during the 2017 fiscal year. The report covers global efforts in the firm’s three regions of operation: the Americas; Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA); and Asia Pacific (APAC).

The company’s goals around responsible citizenship extend to environmental and sustainability efforts as Cushman & Wakefield helps its clients find better, smarter and greener real estate solutions. The company’s commitment to being a responsible business is highlighted in the 2017 report, which emphasises its support for diversity and inclusion, employee satisfaction and engagement as well as being a better neighbour to communities and the environment. In the report, the company reveals its business strategy and stakeholder expectations, focusing efforts on putting clients and employees at the centre of what’s next and being a responsible business partner. It also commits to furthering five United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Big Corporates’ CSR Programmes

Big corporates are working hard on global CSR strategies implementations as Cushman & Wakefield does. Globally the firm is aiming to:

  • Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages

  • Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all

  • Build a resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation and foster innovation

  • Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable

  • Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts

The targets are ambitious and require the engagement of hundreds of thousands of people to make it happen throughout global communities. The desire of helping and supporting others is so natural and strong among the majority of us. By creating an inclusive and respectful company culture where people have the freedom to act and create bottom-up CSR initiatives, mindful leaders are freeing up the fantastic collective potential of their teams. By accepting and supporting CSR initiatives leaders are engaging themselves and participate actively in company social life. All small initiatives count and are important as the scope and scale of CSR needs are indeed massive.

In Poland, as local leaders representing the global company Cushman & Wakefield, we prepare our own initiatives that are in line with global standards. This year we were involved in various types of activities. Below are detailed some of Cushman & Wakefield CSR initiatives from 2018.


In April, as one of nine real estate firms, we took a part in the sixth Lose Your Kilowatts campaign - providing an opportunity to discard lingering e-waste into special bins put out in selected office and warehouse buildings in Warsaw. The initiative aims to promote eco-friendly attitudes and to provide charitable support to the Rehabilitation, Education and Care Centre of the Przymierze – Ziemia Piska Association in Pisz.


Later in April we organised Cushman & Wakefield’s Second Blue Charity Run to support the Foundation and Integrated Kindergarten ‘Mądre Główki’. 52 people took part in the five-kilometre run through the city of Warsaw. Runners included the firm’s employees and representatives of the Foundation. This initiative is related to April as autism awareness month. This year’s route passed four checkpoints at the projects being constructed by Warsaw’s leading office developers: Echo Investment, Ghelamco, HB Reavis and Skanska. Finishing the run was the main thing. Those unable to run the whole five-kilometre distance were free to walk along or ride on roller skates, bicycles, skateboards or kick scooters. Cushman & Wakefield paid the Mądre Główki Foundation 10 złotys for each kilometre completed by the participants, but other firms invited to take part in the event were free to set their own rates to help those in need. The funds raised thanks to the commitment of all the employees, developers and representatives of the foundation totaled 4,000 złotys.


As every year, we took part in the Poland-wide campaign of the Orphaned Children's Fund A Child's Smile for Children's Day. The campaign consisted in the purchase of a dream gift for an orphaned child: a book, a school backpack,  tracksuit, trousers, a summer dress, a football, etc. The campaign ended on 20 May and the presents were given on Children's Day, on 1 June. Thanks to our employees, we managed to collect presents for 44 orphaned children. The collection took place as part of the Child's Smile campaign, organised by the Hospice Foundation – ‘Hospice is also Life’.


In June, during the team building event, employees of the company took part in the noble project of building new dogs' kennels for the shelter in Jamrozowizna on behalf of the OTOZ Animals Warsaw Foundation. The campaign is primarily about promoting smart volunteering and helping needy animals in shelters. The task was for each C&W team to build a dog kennel. All the kennels that were made went to the neediest shelter.


During the whole year, we also provide various activities for our employees in the WellBeing@Work programme. TIt promotes wellness and a holistically healthy lifestyle among employees. The activities included workshops on healthy eating, mindfulness, stress management and interdepartmental knowledge sharing as well as yoga classes, meditation sessions and massage.
